Accessibility

The Eyewear Museum has been awarded the "Tourism & Disability" label.

It is fully accessible to disabled visitors. A disabled parking space is provided in the car park opposite the Museum (10 metres from the Museum entrance).

The Museum team also offers guided tours for visually impaired visitors, subject to prior booking. These take place during the Museum's regular opening hours and are available in French only. They last an hour and a half and are divided into two parts:
  • tour of the permanent exhibition to retrace the history of the town of Morez, learn about its industrial know-how and the steps involved in manufacturing a pair of glasses through the machines used in eyewear factories (45 minutes). The tour uses sounds and objects that the public can touch (wooden tiles, enamel, etc.)
  • introduction to the history of eyewear in the education room (45 minutes). Various models are presented to the public who can explore them through touch.

For visitors with learning difficulties, a booklet has been specially produced to accompany them around the Museum. Fun and entertaining, it provides step-by-step access to the world of eyewear but it is available in French only.
